CA Unloads interBiz Collection Into SSA GT's Sanctuary Part 3: Challenges and User Recommendations

The varied product portfolio now under the SSA GT banner will take serious pondering and soul-searching and may likely act as a distraction from SSA GT's primary BPCS product strategy. While SSA GT's gallant attempt to regain credibility in the industry is noteworthy, it still has much more catching-up to do, with the market keeping a close eye on its execution.

More importantly, except for Cognos and SynQuest or Manugistics (for an advanced planning & scheduling (APS) product add-on), the above partnerships, which have certainly made a splash, are either in their infancy or Read More

Infor Strikes Again (at Long Last): Getting “Soft” While Flexing Its Muscles? - Part 2

Part 1 of this blog series analyzed Infor’s latest acquisition of SoftBrands Inc., a company with a somewhat complicated history and lineage, and formerly called Fourth Shift and AremisSoft. The post concluded that, from a higher level overview, Infor has a good synergistic opportunity with the SoftBrands Hospitality solutions but some serious tweaking to do with the SoftBrands Manufacturing

But the least Infor can do is to offer the Read More

SSA GT to EXE-cute (Yet) Another Acquisition Part Three: Impact on SSA GT

Even in the cases where the company has been showing close attention to its customers' wish lists, its crucial tenet of operation is profitability and setting realistic goals. The return on investment (ROI) justification works for the vendor, particularly when its CEO has a strong accounting background. It does not appear very realistic to expect the equitably due attention to over a dozen products, though, as only the enhancements that will result in marketing value to SSA GT will pass.

Like the previous few SSA GT acquisitions, this merger too seems aimed at enlarging SSA GT's customer base, market share and, more importantly, its predictably recurring support revenue and consequently larger R&D pool. Both companies have notable customer bases with a wide geographic spread (particularly in emerging markets that have been much less affected by the recession). Read More

Resurrection, Vitality And Perseverance Of Former ERP 'Goners' Part Four: Challenges

Where these vendors' challenges take more individual tracks would be the state of affairs of harmonizing their installed user base across a controllable number of active software versions. The (Perhaps Not So Sudden) Change of CEO at Epicor

Joseph (Joe) L.
