A Tale of a Few Good SCM Players - Part 4
Part 1 of this blog post series followed the genesis of Manhattan Associates from its inception in 1990 throughout the mid-2000s. During this time, Manhattan

Order management and dynamic supply chain process capabilities make sense, but will Manhattan and RedPrairie ever be able to own the order without owning back-end systems? What’s Next for JDA? With the viability concerns off the table, I am not surprised that the combination of JDA and Manugistics is flourishing. For years, Oracle and SAP had wanted to eliminate Manugistics in the SCM space. They thought they had both cornered the market around the 2004-to-2006 timeframe, when Manugistics

Can 'Intuitive' And 'ERP' Words Be Associated?

While Intuitive Manufacturing Systems, still largely a stealth small ERP provider, may have the ‘Intuitive ERP’ trump to attract SMEs internationally, a bevy of competitors has also been engaged in delivering their panaceas to the increasingly crowding market segment.

dynamic contrast ratio  utilizes the recently released Dynamic MRP module, a completely memory-resident MRP planning system which drops MRP runs from hours to seconds. The Visual Order Pegging module allows the user to trace up or down the production hierarchy (multi-level) to track the source/use relationships. It then provides the most comprehensive and user-friendly tool on the market to visualize those relationships, graphically display problems areas in the schedule, and highlight the effects of things like new orders or a Read More

Q2O Systems: Solutions for Quotation Management and Pricing Configuration

Quote-to-order systems include quotation management and pricing configuration solutions. Pricing configuration engines automate pricing and quoting processes for manufacturers with complex requirements. Their benefits include quotes that are quick and accurate, leading to increased customer satisfaction.

Upon completion of the configuration session, the configured product is added to the quote. After a quote has been converted to an order, any configurable models can be reconfigured before the order is booked into the ERP order management module. However, due to some Read More

SYSPRO-Taking a Quantum Leap or Simply Becoming Smarter?

What do Einstein’s theory of relativity and quantum theory have to do with SYSPRO? TEC principal analyst P.J. Business-to-business Price Segmentation-Outlined and Explained

The central premise of price segmentation, especially in business-to-business environments, is that pricing should be consistent for similar deals. The process quantifies similarity by empirically determining which deal circumstances affect price response, enabling companies to benchmark prices against similar transactions.

Will there be future orders? What channel is the order coming through? What mix of products is on an order? Are there special terms? Rebates? How urgent is it? Analytics: A Blueprint for Value in Mid-Market Organizations

While most mid-market companies have an analytics foundation designed to handle structured data, few have evolved to more dynamic environments required for big data and a pervasive and prescriptive use of advanced analytics that are essential to survive in a digital world. So, what should mid-market companies do now to improve their capabilities to convert data-driven insights into meaningful results? In this report, we explore how they can tap into their strengths, shore up their weaknesses, and learn from analytics leaders.

Standardized Battlespace SOA: Enabling Network-centric Operations

Network-centric operations (NCO) provide the ability to leverage information networks to generate a more dynamic and agile decision-making space. A fundamental enabler is service-orientated architecture (SOA). The use of industry-standard IT architectures helps ensure that systems can be provisioned rapidly, shared as appropriate, and give the flexibility and response times needed within such challenging environments.

Wetmetrics

The Internet is having an identity crisis. Long regarded as a powerful tool for cost reduction and service enhancement, the Internet is falling short of its promise because of the real and perceived threat of identity theft. Financial losses and insurance costs are mounting, as organizations struggle to protect their information perimeters and improve the strength of their authentication systems to ensure that the authorized user is present during the sign-in process. The widespread use and misuse of passwords as authentication tokens is generally cited as a cause of the accelerating erosion of user confidence and the increasing incidence of identity theft. It is generally agreed that passwords are not enough. Much has been lost, however, in the race toward person-present authentication systems. While the application of passwords is fraught with risk, the introduction of complex authentication infrastructures and cumbersome end user technology has eroded usability and increased the cost of security dramatically. This paper describes a new authentication approach that retains the simplicity and low cost of passwords, while gracefully introducing as much person-present assurance as is required by the application.

dynamic contrast ratio  cost, complexity and inconvenience. Dynamic signature biometrics, perhaps in combination with cryptographic infrastructures, are among the most reliable indicators of person presence, but cost and inconvenience still militate against these implementations. What is clearly needed in the marketplace is a mechanism as simple and as easy to use as a password, but closer to the elusive goal of person-presence. We refer to this highly desirable objective as password fortification. Passwords remain the most Read More
