Oracle APS Makes Its Debut
Oracle Corporation officially released its Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) applications recently amid the usual fanfare. Long in coming, APS still has significant ground to cover.

ERP SYSTEM USING ORACLE: key areas of its ERP suite with functionality of interest to its manufacturing customer base. The single data model of APS, if proven to be viable, will give it an advantage over other products, including those of Supply Chain king i2 Technologies. i2 has amassed a suite of products largely through acquisition and has struggled to stabilize a common data model upon which to anchor the products. Contrary to Oracle s marketing banter, however, APS still faces many of the same synchronization challenges as

Oracle Product Showdown!
I'm Larry Blitz, editor of Technology Evaluation Centers’ (TEC) Vendor Showdown series. Today’s Vendor Showdown is an encore presentation of a Showdown that was originally published last September. At the modular and submodular levels—even down to the individual criterion—you can tell the system which business processes are critical, important, or not important to your organization. The system then compares your priorities against the vendor responses to produce a shortlist of solutions. You get a custom

Oracle Loses Again
SAP AG has chosen SQL Server 7.0 as its strategic database for the Windows platform. The companies also will cooperate to make the Windows 2000 OS available as a platform choice for customers wishing to implement mySAP.com solutions. On the heels of the agreement to use IBM DB2 as a preferred backend database, Oracle continues to lose market share as a database in the ERP arena.

ERP SYSTEM USING ORACLE: their competition in the ERP market space continues to hurt them. Other ERP and CRM vendors increasingly perceive Oracle as a competitor and not a partner, and this trend is expected to continue. We believe that Oracle will try to reverse the trend, but their strong push into applications software (especially ERP and CRM) will prevent them from succeeding. According to one source, more than 50 percent of new SAP U.S. installations on Windows NT have been on SQL Server. User Recommendations Customers
